Research and Development
We have experience in research and development. Please see a few publication from our page. They were published in his previous positions. He able to use software program in his research and analysis work. The program are: FORTRAN, “C-language”, Microsoft Access, Excel, etc. Please see the detail below.
Software capabilities:
- Visual Digital Fortran used for several applications including developing a “Spatial Traffic Accident Analysis” program.
- “C” used for developing retaining structure design program including other data analysis.
- Microsoft Office Excel including micro level programming used for Passing lane crash data analysis.
- Microsoft Office Access including Visual Basis program used for analysing highway geometry data including curvature and cross-fall, sight distance for passing and stopping, with skid resistance and crash data to study the Highways safety performance and identifying the improvement in Taupo region.
- TRAffic on Rural Roads (TRARR) simulation package from ARRB used for analysing economic benefit of passing lanes.
- AutoCAD used for preparing in-built drawing of a testing apparatus.
- Geostudio “Seep/W used to predict the water content and the water flow in pavements
Haran also involved with Transportation Research Board, Washington DC. He is involved in a number of committees:
- Transportation Research Board (TRB) Standing committee member, Washington D.C., USA. Haran’s contributions are: reviewing research papers, identifying new technologies in pavement areas, international practices, networking with colleagues and establishing professional relationship with individuals from other geographical areas and disciplines to broaden knowledge and perspective. contributing to the broader transportation community by shearing information about our organization’s research results and practice and gaining early awareness of international new research findings as well as the opportunity to encourage new research addressing our problems and advancing new technologies in our practice and find out others current practice.
- Committee member: Standing Committee on Strength and Deformation Characteristics of Pavement Sections AFD80
- Friend:
- Standing Committee on Flexible Pavement Design AFD60
- Standing Committee on Highway Safety Performance ANB25
- Standing Committee on Highway Safety Workforce Development ANB23
- International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Technical committee, UK: Geo-Mechanics (member and New Zealand representative).
- Member of the International Advisory Committee for the International Symposium on Geomechanics from Micro to Macro, 1-3 September 2014, Cambridge, UK
- He was in the Scientific Committee for the Bearing Capacity of Roads Railways and Airfields to be held in June 2013 in Trondheim, Norway
Haran is able to bring up to date research information to his professional area.
